Darren Powell, Staff Writer

Entertainment/Opinion staff writer Darren Powell, returning to Journalism for his second semester, is a Sopohmore at Rose. Darren is from Brooklyn, New York, and is the oldest brother out of four boys. He joined Journalism in his Freshman year because he wanted a place to freely express his musical, cinema, political and general opinions and also to hear others’ thoughts. He loves acting, writing and playing video games. He also has an immense love for listening to music. His favorite genres are neo-soul, r&b and hip-hop. He loves artists like Anderson .Paak, J. Cole, H.E.R., Giveon, Brent Faiyaz and many more. Some of his favorite video games are GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, both Spider-Man games and Watch Dogs. He wrote 4 articles in his first semester of Journalism, and the one he is most proud of was the news story he wrote about the Pitt County Schools bus driver shortage. He loves that article because it was his first-ever article, and it even made the front page. Darren is proud to be in Journalism because of its wonderful teacher Mrs. Hutchinson, its fantastic and friendly members and most importantly, how much all of the hard work pays off. He looks forward to continuing to be a member of Rampant Lines.
