McGavock Smith is a senior at Rose and has been taking Journalism since her freshman year. This year, McGavock is one of the Editor-in-Chiefs, moving up from her previous role as News editor. She has been a part of the News section since she first started taking Journalism and found her home there. In News, McGavock enjoys learning new things, going on in and around the school, meeting and interviewing new people, and the overall environment the section brings. Outside of the classroom, McGavock is one of the captains on the J.H. Rose Varsity Women’s Lacrosse team. She has been playing lacrosse since third grade and fell in love with it from the start. She plans to attend a four-year university and major in nutrition, with the view of making medicine more proactive and reactive. This year, McGavock looks forward to her new responsibilities and role as Editor-in-Chief, continuing to make Journalism a warm and welcoming place, open to any suggestions and changes for the betterment of the newspaper.
