Jingle Jangle tops Christmas movie list

Whether or not the weather outside is frightful, and you are feeling you want something delightful— I guarantee these Netflix Christmas movies are just what you need to get in the holiday spirit. Netflix is known for their original seasonal films. However, I feel some of these movies are more worth your time than others. Every year I always look forward to watching some of my favorite Christmas classics, but this year I branched out a little and explored the wide variety of Christmas movies Netflix has to offer.

I am so glad I decided to step out of my comfort zone because I have some new favorites after watching these movies . No matter what genre, a great Christmas movie should channel your inner holiday mood. Most of these movies meet this criteria, but some fell short.

My favorite by far was Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey. I had never watched this movie before and now I want to make it a tradition to watch it every year. It is about a toymaker named Jeronicus Jangle

whose apprentice stole his most prized creation and betrayed him decades ago. It is up to his granddaughter, Journey, to heal the wounds of his past. This was at the top of my list because it's such a good mystery movie, and it's hard to guess what happens next. Throughout the whole movie I wanted to know if she was going to be able to reignite her grandfather's passion for toy making. So many people have recommended this movie to me and I would highly recommend it for anyone who loves a good Christmas fantasy.

Next up on my list is The Princess Switch. This movie is about a Chicago-based baker named Stacy. She travels to Belgravia for the royal Christmas baking competition and ends up meeting Duchess Margaret, who looks exactly like her. They decide to switch places the week before Christmas so the princess can see what a “normal” life is before she takes the throne. I had seen this movie before watching it this week and it was just as good the second time. That's how I knew this movie is something special. I feel like I could watch it ten times and it would never get old.

Aside from my top two favorites, there were unfortunately two movies that I felt did not put me in the Christmas spirit to the same extent the others did. It could have been that I watched the amazing movies Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey and The Princess Switch before it, but The Holiday Calendar falls on the very bottom of my list. It is about a photographer whose grandfather gives her an antique holiday calendar that predicts her future, which includes a growing romance. This movie was sort of similar to a Hallmark movie, and there is nothing wrong with that, other than the fact that the movie is predictable.

Lastly is A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby. This movie also falls near the bottom of my preferences. This movie is about the couple returning back to Aldavia and as the kingdom prepares for the season, Amber and Richard also prepare for a royal baby. This is the third installment of A Christmas Prince and the first movie was amazing. The first movie, A Christmas Prince, is my favorite out of the three. It is about an aspiring young journalist who's been sent abroad to get the scoop on a dashing prince who's poised to be king. I did not love this movie because the first one set the bar so high, and the third did not fulfill my expectations.

There are so many more Netflix Christmas movies, so I encourage you to get in your PJs and have a good movie night. I highly recommend Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey and The Princess Switch. Netflix has some of the best movies streaming right now, so go take a look.
