On Sept. 13 Rose upperclassmen came together in the gymnasium to honor the senior’s achievements, creating a sense of community and motivation for the rest of the year.
Convocation is a Rose tradition where juniors and seniors gather to celebrate the seniors journey throughout Rose. Special guests and teachers delivered inspirational messages to students to leave behind a positive legacy.
“The overall theme was, what are you going to leave here at Rose,” Career and Technical Education teacher Garner said. “If I had to sum up the speeches it was, what is your legacy here left at Rose and if you do not have a positive brand, how can you change it.”

Among many different speakers from the Rose staff, Garner was recognized with the Teacher of The Year award for going above and beyond. This major accomplishment gave him the opportunity to speak in front of the juniors and seniors.
"So the teacher of the year that year gets to speak at convocation," Garner said.
Many messages resonated with the students, persuading them to reflect on their high school experience and contributions to Rose sparking their determination to finish the year strong.
“Regardless of what has gone on, up to now you can do something good enough that is going to set you up for the rest of your life if you have that drive to do well,” Garner said.
Throughout the gathering, each speaker shared personal stories and experiences they had at high school. Many speakers emphasized their regret of not giving their best effort in school and not leaving a positive legacy.
“Rose alumni Lee Allen said that he was not a great student in high school but regardless of what you do in high school you can reinvent yourself and have a great brand,” Garner said.
At the end of convocation, many students were filled with a sense of responsibility to leave a positive impact on Rose. The inspiration will last beyond high school and into their next step in life.
“It’s a good time for everyone to be together and visualize the end goal in mind and to hear the words of wisdom to try and get you to the graduation,” Garner said. “If you follow being poised, polished and professional you can achieve anything.”
